With interest rates reaching historic lows over the past few years, many Americans were able to purchase homes at lower prices than in the past.  Whether these new home buyers* bought a home that was a fixer-upper or move-in ready, a new home purchase often leads to home improvements, both big and small.  Now that Spring has officially sprung, new home buyers across the country are planning their next home improvement to begin turning their recent purchase into their dream home.  Nielsen Scarborough has provided a rank of the top ten markets where new home buyers live as well as the types of home improvements they plan to take on in the next 12 months.

*New Home Buyers: homeowners that have lived in their residence for less than 5 years
